My name is Alisabeth, and I enjoy being who I am.
If I didn’t have a song or a dance to do at any given moment, I’d feel as if I were shorting myself of some happiness.
Music is my life; to be more specific, musical theatre. There is just some part of me that can never go without it. It’s been too much a part of my life to ever let it go. Whether I’m singing in the chorus line or standing center stage, I never mind as long as I’m there.
Living and breathing some character.
It’s more than a hobby or a job for me. It’s a way of life. Indeed, I can’t imagine my life being half as pleasant if I weren’t involved with it.
At one point in my life, I chose to “take a break” from theatre… this was one of the biggest mistakes I ever made. I never knew until that point how much of my happiness depended on being able to stand on stage and give it my all—no matter what. There is no better feeling than when the curtain opens to a full house. It means the world to me every time I see someone genuinely happy and enjoying a show.
I've had other ventures, bands and modeling, but nothing tops sharing your very being with a cast of talented actors and actresses. It’s creating a new family and bonding with people that you may have never met otherwise. It’s feeling something so intense in your soul that you know nothing else could ever be as wonderful. And it’s perfect, even when it’s not.
I know that I may not make the most sense when I try to explain how deeply I love theatre—the only way of really understanding, short of joining a cast, is just to go to a show; to leave your own troubles in the lobby and maybe never pick them up again when you leave.
I got into theatre because I love to sing.
Now I’m here because I like to make people laugh or cry, or just forget that there is another world out there. I am Alisabeth Cortne, I know what I’m meant to do. And nothing will stop me from pursuing that dream.
